Parents Held For Selling Minor Daughter For Rs 40,000 In Bhubaneswar

BHUBANESWAR: A couple allegedly sold their 4-year-old daughter to a woman in the Pipili area of Puri district for Rs 40,000. Badagada police on Wednesday rescued the child and arrested seven persons including her parents and the woman who bought her.

One Sarthak Mohanty lodged a complaint with Badagada police here on Tuesday, alleging that the couple from Bihar, who were working at his house, sold their daughter.

“We rescued the baby and arrested seven persons. The couple confessed that they sold their child for money,” inspector-in-charge Trupti Ranjan Nayak said.
