'No Plans To Allow Adani Group For Mining In Gandhamardan'

BHUBANESWAR: The Odisha government on Wednesday made it clear that it has no plans to permit Adani Group or any other company to conduct bauxite mining in the Gandhamardan hills, located in the Balangir and Bargarh districts.

This statement was made by deputy chief minister K V Singh Deo and Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Suresh Pujari during an assembly session.

Singh Deo and Pujari rejected allegations that the government was considering allowing Adani Group to engage in mining activities in the region, calling these claims false. In response to opposition members' accusations, Singh Deo stated that it was the previous BJD government, led by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, that had permitted the Adani Group to purchase land in the foothills of Gandhamardan for compensatory afforestation.
