Arrest Of Our Workers In Jajpur Politically Motivated: BJD
BHUBANESWAR: Opposition BJD on Sunday alleged that the recent arrest of some of its workers in Jajpur was politically motivated and accused the ruling BJP of having influenced the police to take the ‘biassed’ action.
A few days ago, tensions had risen in Jajpur following an assault on Dharmasala’s independent MLA Himanshu Sahoo. Based on his complaint, police arrested some BJD workers including prominent leader Pranab Prakash Das’s brother Bhaba Prakash in connection with the case.
“The Dharmasala MLA’s allegations were false and baseless. He created a false story and got the BJD workers arrested at the behest of the ruling BJP. Police are puppets in the hands of the BJP,” BJD chief whip Pramila Mallik told reporters in Bhubaneswar.
Alleging that the state’s law and order has collapsed, the BJD has decided to meet the Director General of Police (DGP) on Sunday to raise their concerns.
Countering the BJD’s allegations, BJP state president Manmohan Samal accused BJD leaders of being unprepared to accept opposition status mentally. Samal said that certain individuals are orchestrating unrest for personal gain.
