Odisha Borders Fortified Ahead of Jharkhand Polls
BHUBANESWAR: Security has been ramped up in districts like Mayurbhanj, Sundargarh and Keonjhar sharing borders with Jharkhand ahead of the first phase assembly elections in the neighbouring state.
According to ADG (law and order), Sanjay Kumar, check posts have been installed and armed personnel are stationed around the clock to prevent the movement of suspicious individuals and materials across the border.
“The security measures have been taken after a meeting with the Election Commission of India recently. We have already established 29 check posts in the border districts and intensified patrolling,” Kumar told media persons.
