Uniform Colours Of Odisha Nurses Changed

The Odisha government has introduced a new dress code for nurses, incorporating a distinct cultural element. The traditional white apron worn by nursing staff will now feature a unique Sambalpuri design for deputy nursing superintendents, adding a regional touch to their uniforms.

This change comes after the Odisha Nursing Employees' Association proposed the update, which has been approved in principle by the state government, provided it doesn't lead to significant financial costs. The revision includes several key adjustments to the uniforms of nursing staff across different roles.

One of the most notable changes is the shift in colour for nursing officers. The traditional white scrub suits worn by nurses in the ICU, OT, and labour rooms will now be light lavender.

“This new colour scheme will also extend to female nursing officers in general wards, who will have the option of wearing either a saree or a salwar-kameez in the same lavender shade. Male nursing officers in these wards will wear lavender shirts paired with deep navy blue formal pants,” a senior govt officer said.

Assistant Nursing Superintendents will adopt a cyan blue colour for their uniforms. Female ANS will wear either scrub suits or sarees in cyan, while male ANS will wear cyan shirts with navy blue trousers.
