Pregnant Woman Shot Dead In Sundargarh

BHUBANESWAR: Unidentified outlaws gunned down a seven-month pregnant woman at her residence in Jhirdapalli village in Sundargarh district late Wednesday night.

The victim, Samyamayee Behera (31), cousin of Chhendipada MLA Agasti Behera, was allegedly attacked when she opened the door of her residence after hearing someone trying to break in around 12.30 am, police sources said.

Her husband, Deben Kumar Behera said that the attackers attempted to snatch her gold chain. When she resisted, they shot her in the chest and fled with the jewellery.

“A murder case has been registered, and an investigation is in progress. We have launched a manhunt to nab the culprits,” a senior police officer said.
