Terror Threat To DGP/IGP Conference At Bhubaneswar

BHUBANESWAR: Security agencies were alarmed on Thursday after Khalistani extremist Gurpatwant Singh Pannun threatened to disrupt the three-day all-India conference of DGPs/IGPs, commencing at Bhubaneswar on Friday.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, and National Security Advisor Ajit Doval are scheduled to attend the big event.

Pannun issued the threat through a video message, prompting the jittery Odisha Police to relook the security arrangements. The extremist stated that more than 200 officials from NIA, CRPF, BSF, NSG, IB, and CISF would convene under Shah's leadership, alleging the meeting would strategise against pro-Khalistani Sikhs, Kashmiri fighters, Naxals, and Maoists.

“Disrupt and stop the DGP terror conference where, under the influence of violent Hindutva ideology, they plan and orchestrate killings of pro-Khalistan Sikhs, Kashmiri fighters, Naxals, and Maoists. Three axes of evil, Modi, Shah, and Doval, are bringing the biggest security threat to Bhubaneswar,” he said in the video.

Pannun challenged Modi to visit the Ram Temple in Bhubaneswar while inciting his supporters to interfere with the conference. “Naxals, boys, Kashmiri fighters, I urge you to take cover in temples and hotels in Bhubaneswar to internationalise your issue and raise your voice,” he said.

Bhubaneswar Police Commissioner S Devdatta Singh said a robust security blanket has been prepared to conduct the three-day DGP/IGP conference at Bhubaneswar.
