Minor Sexually Abused In Cuttack; Accused Held

BHUBANESWAR: A six-year-old girl was allegedly raped in Baranga area in Cuttack, police said on Wednesday. The accused, who was identified as Kaliash Sonar, 25, has been arrested. He is an acquaintance of the victim's parents, police said.

The accused took the girl from her house on Tuesday evening to a nearby shop luring her to buy chocolates. He sexually abused her on the way while returning.

Unable to bear the pain, the victim told her parents about the incident following which they admitted her to Sishu Bhawan and lodged a complaint in Baranga police station, the sources said.

“A case has been registered after the victim's father lodged a complaint. The accused has been arrested,” DCP Jagmohan Meena said.
