Woman's 'Killer' Arrested In Bhubaneswar

BHUBANESWAR:  The Capital Police station in Bhubaneswar on Wednesday arrested a carpenter on charges of killing a married woman to death near Sishu Bhawan recently.

The accused, who was identified as Nanda Kishore Ojha, 34, allegedly stabbed Dipika Ranjit, 32, on February 27 while she was returning from her husband’s mobile repair store in Bapuji Nagar in the evening. Dipika succumbed to injuries at the SCB medical college and hospital in Cuttack the next day.

Police said Ojha and Dipika knew each other about a month ago. Ojha often visited her house at Jharana Sahi slum near Sishu Bhawan. Police said a few days ago, Ojha found Dipika busy on phone calls for hours.

“Ojha suspected she was talking to multiple men. When he asked her, she asked him not to interfere. An argument started between them recently following which Dipika asked Ojha not to visit her home again,” deputy commissioner of police Prateek Singh said.

Around 9 pm on February 27, Dipika was walking towards her slum when Ojha intercepted her near Sishu Bhawan. A scuffle broke out between them following an altercation. In a fit of rage, Ojha allegedly stabbed her stomach and fled.
