Etiquette lessons for Bhubaneswar cops for Pravasi Bharatiya Divas

BHUBANESWAR: The commissionerate police launched an orientation programme to prepare their personnel for the upcoming Pravasi Bharatiya Divas (PBD) convention at Janata Maidan from January 8 to 10. The training focused on behavioural protocols, crowd management, and traffic control.

Senior police officers conducted targeted training sessions in groups for personnel who will be deployed at the venue, hotels, and tourist spots frequented by NRI participants. "We are committed to ensuring seamless, safe, and secure travel experiences for all PBD delegates. Our officers are undergoing specialised training in etiquette, advanced crowd and traffic management, and building a sense of trust and hospitality," Commissioner of Police S Dev Datta Singh said.

The police commissioner held a meeting with representatives of several hotels hosting PBD delegates and advised them to establish robust security measures during the three-day programme. "We advised the hoteliers to deploy trained and verified private security personnel. They should also keep tabs on suspicious movements and take assistance from the police for verification. Hotels should install IP-based CCTV cameras at key locations, use door frame metal detectors, under-car inspection mirrors, and baggage scanners," Singh said.

All police stations have been asked to conduct systematic surveillance in hotels and scrutinise their security infrastructure. Officers have been directed to maintain detailed records of hotel guests and verify proper documentation. They will also assess fire safety equipment, emergency exits, and coordinate with hotel management to establish clear communication protocols during the event.
